A scratched disc used to be a tragedy. Now the tragedy can be a licensing server deciding that the thing you paid for has reached the end of its useful corporate life.
The future promised frictionless access and delivered revocable permission. Music, games, films, books, software—even memories stored in somebody else's cloud—can now disappear without the courtesy of being lost under your couch first.
ZONE 05 // CYBER ARCADE
Games, streams, fandom, spectator culture, advertisements, and the strange experience of being alone together in public.
The match is still on, but half the screen belongs to bedroom commentators, reaction windows, sponsor crawls, live chat, and a Taco Bell reminder with excellent timing.
We gained a million little broadcasters and somehow made the shared event harder to see. Participation became performance; community became engagement; the crowd became a column of usernames moving too quickly to read.

Food automation, delivery culture, shrinking third spaces, engineered convenience, and restaurants becoming distribution nodes for processed foodstuffs.

Sexuality, intimacy, emotional life, identity, wellness, and the suspiciously small number of places where a person is permitted to be a person.
